64 T-Bird Zelienople PA

We stopped at Young's Custard Stand just outside Zelienople and returned to parking to spot this clean 64 T-Bird near us in the parking lot.  It looks like a super weekend ride for a couple at the stand enjoying ice cream.  Young's was not offering their super pistachio soft serve when we visited, but Ladybug enjoyed a banana cone.  This place has the perfect space for cruise evenings.

Karmann Giha

I've been seeing this car in front of an old diner on and off for months.  I've wanted to stop for images, but the time was never right.  I drove by in the late afternoon and knew the light was terrible, but I had time to stop.  It's developed a flat tire since I last saw it, but it is still worth a look.

The images are not what I wanted, but this is one bad*ss looking Karmann Giha.  It's not perfect by any measure, but it captured my eye.

Returning to Nature

Ever wonder about those old cars sitting in the woods and slowly returing to nature?  We spotted this Buick Century in the far corner of a city park.  What happened to put them there and who left them.  This one probably goes back to the days when Westlake was still farmland.

In its glory days the car had a light blue paint like this one from Classic Vehicles List.  Traces of the old blue can still be faintly seen on the driver's side fender.

Why Are So Many Jeeps Unhappy?

Could it be they all feel unfullfilled in life.  Big tires, lifted and going on pavement between parking lots at stores and local parks.

Paw Paw Pinto Pick-up

We were headed for a walk through the Paw Paw Tunnel and made a stop in town for a cold refreshment.  Looking over from the parking lot I spotted a different vehicle.  It was the first Pinto pick-up conversion I had seen.  This one appears to have started life as a fake woodgrain Pinto wagon.  The rear window appears to have been salvaged from the wagon's tailgate.  This one looks to be long gone and abandoned much like the nearby Jaguar.  Pinto pick-up conversions appear to have been rare.

The Paw Paw Tunnel is a 3000 foot walk into darkness and back out.  It is an amazing place to visit if you go looking for this old Pinto conversion.
