Early 70's Karmann Ghia

I should visit the local hardware store more often.  This orange Karmann Ghia is sporting local plates, but was a  local vintage car I hadn't seen.  The bumpers indicate it is of the last vintage of Volkswagon's Italian designed "two-door sports coupe".  With the energy-absorbing bumpers and the large tailights this is a 1973 or 1974.  It's still and interesting body design on a nearly half-century vehicle.

37 Chevy Truck

This  truck has been a fixture at the Albion Fair for the many years we have visited.  This year we passed by, and it was missing.  A few minutes later I was treated to the sweet rumble as it arrived at its normal spot.

57 Chevy

We stopped at a local pharmacy and this blue '57 Chevy was in the parking lot.  It was a perfect look for this iconic hot rod.

1963 Impala

I stopped at a hardware store on my way home from work and noticed this old beauty in the parking lot.  It was interesting to me because I knew someone who brought a clean '63 back from Tennessee after spending the summer working in landscaping.  They were both hoping to bring back old cars.  Only one did.  He lost interest in the vehicle.  Years ago his parents moved so the '63 probably left the garage and moved to a new home then.  It's a small world of remaining 63 Impalas still on the road.  So maybe this one in the correct color with a small block 8 was the same car.  Either way, it was a pleasure to see.

Orange Festiva

I had stopped for shopping and spotted an orange Fiesta in the rain covered parking lot.  In a world filled with white-to-black shades, the metallic orange stood out as a pleasant contrast.  The Fiesta was an nice looking sub-compact made at the wrong time.  It deserved a better fate in sales.

57 Chevy

57 Chevies must be among the most recognizable iconic cars.  They are not seen much these days as grocery getters, but this beauty was sitting in the parking lot of a local grocery store.  I was impressed that the other shoppers gave it empty neighboring spaces in the nearly full parking lot.

Scout II

Our mechanic recently retired.  We shouldn't have been surprised, since the same family of mechanics have been taking care of our vehicles since before we were married.  I'm happy to see the last of the crew heading off for a hopefully long retirement, but daunted by the thought of having someone else handling our vehicles.  Today was the first test with a Forester being dropped off for routine service and brakes.  I felt a lot better when I saw a couple Scouts on the site including a plow dog.

A friend had one of these in college.  Nothing stopped it.  International Harvester made the Scout and a handful of other vehicles.  Survivors go for ridiculous money.  This old plow truck has earned its nickname.
